 2017 Preview

Shades Valley completed the 2016 season with a 5-5 record. Last year Shades Valley just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 6A region five with a 2-4 region record.

The Mounties had some tough luck last season as four of their five losses were by less than eight points.

Since 2010, Shades Valley has gone a combined 34-41. Their 45.0% winning percentage ranks 39th in Class 6A over the past seven seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Shades Valley has managed to compile a record of 139-139. Their 50.0% winning percentage ranks 30th in Class 6A and 195th in the AHSAA.

The Mounties are led by head coach David Partridge who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 7-13 over the past two seasons at Shades Valley. The Mounties have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Partridge.

Coach Partridge's overall record as a head football coach in two season stands at 7-13 (35.0%).

The Shades Valley Mounties will play in Class 6A region five during the 2017 season. The Mounties have one of the toughest schedules in Class 6A. Their opponents had a combined record of 64-49 last season. That ranks 9th in Class 6A and 49th in the AHSAA.

With a little luck and some improvement, the Mounties could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region five this season. Shades Valley missed the playoffs the past couple of seasons but hope to return to the post season in 2017.

Desmond Trotter returns for his Senior season after completing 67 of 132 passes for 1,080 yards and 9 touchdowns. He also rushed for 467 yards and another 4 scores.

The Mounties open the 2017 season on the road against non-region opponent Andalusia on Friday, August 25 at Memorial Stadium. Last year the Andalusia Bulldogs finished with an overall record of 12-2 and in first place in Class 4A region one. The Bulldogs lost in the semi-finals round of the Class 4A playoffs to Handley by a score of 19-0.

This will be the second meeting between Shades Valley and Andalusia on the football field. The Mounties have a 1-0-0 record against the Bulldogs. They last met in with
